Hynix Slashes NAND Flash Memory Chip Production by 30%

Following a recent announcement made by Elpida regarding its plan to reduce memory chip production, Hynix announced on September 10 that the company will slash production of NAND flash memory chips beginning from September 2008, the Korean Times reported.

As per the plan, the company will reduce memory chip output at its M8 production line by as much as 30%. The M8 line is located in Cheongju, North Chungcheong Province, on the same premises where Hynix's M9 and new M11 lines are also situated. Starting from October 2008, the eight-inch M9 line is also scheduled to halt NAND flash memory chip production, according to the same source.
